Energetically Clearing Space

You know that feeling when you walk into your home and know that there has been an argument? Or, you feel tired, heavy or frustrated? Have you been having nightmares or hearing noises you can’t explain? Has your light and happy home had a visitor who has taken it out the door with them only to leave an angry or depressed cloud behind?

 

Or, have YOU been holding onto anger, resentment or other low vibration emotions and feelings?

 

These and other situations such as long-term illness or recreational drug use can muddy the energies in your home. Left alone, these energies can begin to affect you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

 

Learning to energetically clear your space, releases these low vibration energies as well as empower you to be self-sufficient with your spiritual practices and take responsibility with the energies you are putting into the spaces you live.

 

Health issues may cause concern when using smoke is suggested for space clearing. There are many alternatives you can use that do not involve incense smoking sticks. Keep in mind to complete the other steps to clearing your space beforehand.

 

Alternatives are:

Salting the floors and leaving over-night. Vacuum up the next day making sure to empty the vacuum straight after. It is a good practice to not keep lower energies taken in with the salt to remain in the bag or containment space.

 

Use fallen gum branches that have plenty of leaves on them. Swat the branch around doorways, walls, furniture, ceiling spaces – just as you would with a smoking stick. Always take care to find fallen branches.

 

Space clearing spray is a great alternative – especially if you make it yourself.  You can add essential oils and herbs to distilled water and use the spray around the home. You can research your own clearing oils and herbs or you can try using a mix of; sage, lavender, palo santo, eucalyptus, lemon, sandalwood, lemon myrtle, and peppermint. Sprays are useful for cars, offices, shared accommodation or in your bag for on the go situations.

 

OM chanting, sound frequencies, singing bowls, drums, rattles, sacred feathers will effectively clear space. The more you work with energy, the more sensitive you will become. An area in a room may feel thick or heavy, hot or cold. These spaces may need extra attention.

 

You do not need all the bells and whistles to begin with or every really. Your intention to clear low vibration energy is enough. You can use a saucepan and wooden spoon, your child’s tambourine to break up the energy. Later down the track you might feel drawn to a certain item and purchase it then.

  

What you will need: White candles, Incense, Sage Smoking stick/ dried herb eg: sage, lavender, a drum, rattle, bell or something that makes noise (you can simply clap your hands). Buy yourself the largest smoking stick as it is the most economical in the long run. You will get many space clearings from the larger size.

 

Put on music that is uplifting and of high vibration, open all your curtains and doors to rooms to let in as much lights as possible. Place a white candle in every room, including the toilet, bathroom and laundry. Ideally use 2 or 4 hour tealight candles and keep them going until they extinguish themselves. If any rooms have tight corners or is a large space place candles in these areas. Make sure each candle is secure from falling over.

 

Place and light an incense stick securely in every room. As you light each candle you can say an affirmation or prayer of your choosing eg: ‘I light this candle to bring love and protection. With this light negativity takes flight’. Or you can ask Archangel Michael to clear the space of all low vibration.

 

 

First smoke the tools you will use for the clearing – your drum/rattle/feather/bell etc. These are your sacred tools. Treat them as such. They are not for other people to use or borrow.

 

Begin to clear each room one at a time. Use your rattle, drum or clap your hands around the floor space, up each corner and above your head for the ceiling space. Use your rattle behind doors and tight corners where energy can stagnate. Pay special attention to the beds and couches. Close your ears for the bathroom and laundry areas – the noise is magnified. It is good practice to begin at your front door and finish at the back door, opening it and shaking out the negative energy.

 

Using a heatproof bowl or plate, light your smoking stick or dried herbs and extinguish the flame so you are getting only smoke. Spread the smoke through each room, filling the space with smoke – watch your smoke alarm.

 

Keep your candles burning for as long as possible - all day if you are about. If you need to go out it is ok to extinguish the candles and relight them when you come back home. After an hour or so, open the windows to clear out any residue smoke. Make sure to smoke your sacred tools afterwards.

 

The vibration of your home will feel much lighter and positive. Try to clear your home as often as you can.

 

Please Note: it is a good idea to have a cleanup at home which will help with stagnant energy before space clearing. It is good practice after space clearing to then vacuum the home thoroughly and then empty the vacuum or change the bag – physically removing the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual waste from your home.

 

If you find that the energy has not shifted you may need to require the services of someone reputable such as a medium to remove a low vibration spirit. This is not something to attempt when you are a novice. Spirits that stay around can be a novelty to begin with - ultimately they require moving on and assisted to crossing over.
